Last week we spoke with former Congressman Jim Walsh about the Consensus report on a possible merger between Syracuse and Onondaga County. Today we spoke with Syracuse Common Councilman Khalid Bey who has civil rights concerns regarding the possible merger, and has detailed those concerns in a letter to the Consensus group – a letter which he cc’d to the U.S. Department of Justice, Division of Civil Rights. A new campaign Stand Up for Kids is working to confront child poverty. We hosted Jasmine Gripper, Legislative Director for the Alliance for Quality Education, and Charles Khan, Organizing Director for the Strong Economy for All Coalition, to discuss equitable funding for schools and the campaign’s support for the Speaker’s millionaires tax.
