It’s Presidents’ Day and the legislature is on its February break, so we thought we would turn our attention to another important capitol – Washington DC. In particular, the Supreme Court of the United States. In his latest book, Unfit for Democracy, Albany Law School professor Stephen Gottlieb argues the court, under Chief Justice John Roberts, is failing democracy by neglecting to interpret the law in a way that preserves it. Steven Kroll, Executive Director of NYSARC, is mincing no words when it comes to how painful it will be to continue providing services disabled residents should a $15 dollar an hour pay hike go into effect. And Libby Post of the New York State Animal Protection Federation joins us to advocate for the establishment of a companion animal capital fund.
