Both the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle and the Schenectady Gazette have recently published stories about “Trauma informed education” – education that helps vulnerable students – those who are homeless or hungry – deal with the anxiety that comes from persistent poverty. We spoke with Caterina Leone-Mannino, Principal at Enrico Fermi School 17 and Ruth Turner, Executive Director of Student Support Services at the Rochester City School District about this compelling idea.
